Rwanda plan: Ireland 'won't provide loophole', says taoiseach

The Taoiseach of Ireland, Simon Harris, has expressed that foreign migration policies should not undermine that of Ireland’s. He stated that the country will refuse to provide a loophole for the migration challenges of other nations. Harris has now asked Justice Minister Helen McEntee to introduce legislation that will enable asylum seekers to be returned to the UK. When asked on the topic of migration, he stated that foreign policies must not affect the country’s integrity. Hence, in Ireland, there will be a firm system governed by rules that are well-regulated, enforced, and seen to be carried out.

There is a need for greater collaboration between the Irish and UK police forces concerning migration, according to Harris. While speaking on the Six One News, Ms McEntee stated that a rise in migrants towards Ireland may have happened for various reasons. However, her focus is to ensure an effective immigration structure that includes fast processing and effective returns of illegal immigrants to the UK
