California’s Stagecoach Festival was recently treated to a performance of “Unchained Melody” by Lana Del Rey and country artist Paul Cauthen. The iconic song originally made famous by the Righteous Brothers in 1965 was chosen by Cauthen to close out his set. Del Rey expressed her thrill at being asked to perform the “nice slow one” to finish off the gig. The audience members had the added luxury of hearing Del Rey’s cry of excitement after she informed them that she had previously sung this song at Elvis Presley’s Graceland.
Footage of the performance was shared with Del Rey fans, including those who couldn’t make it to the festival. A video featuring the duo was released where audiences could witness the beautiful on-stage chemistry shared by the two singers. Del Rey, who recently headlined two weekends of the Coachella festival, introduced guests such as Billie Eilish, Jack Antonoff, Jon Batiste, and Camila Cabello during her performance. The audience witnessed Del Rey perform “Video Games” and “Ocean Eyes” with Eilish as well as “I Luv It” with Camila Cabello.
Recently, Courtney Love, a renowned artist herself, shared her views on Del Rey, saying she should take “seven years off.” Del Rey is set to perform at the Reading and Leeds Festivals in 2024, where she will be headlining alongside artists such as Liam Gallagher, Blink-182, Fred Again, Gerry Cinnamon, and Catfish & The Bottlemen. Tickets are on sale for both locations, Reading and Leeds, with the festivals being held from August 21-25.
Although Del Rey’s performance was praised in a four-star review by NME, she violated the curfew at Glastonbury, where she was performing last year, preventing the audience from seeing her full performance. During the same period, she also faced criticism from her former tour manager, who unexplainably quit just over a month before her Coachella performance.
Overall, it’s clear that Del Rey continues to remain a prominent artist across the music industry and is loved by her fans around the world for her talent and distinctive sound
