Peggy Gou’s label announces ‘Gudu & Friends Vol. 2’ compilation

Newly established South Korean record label Gudu is coming up with the second edition of its V/A compilation series, named ‘Gudu & Friends Vol. 2’. Peggy Gou owns the label and announced the record’s release on May 2, via a limited edition cassette, and digitally. The edition features new artists signed to the label, which includes Alinka, Gina Breeze, Jordan Nocturne featuring Coco Cole, Minju, Nyra, Hiver, Mogwaa, Dukwa, and Matisa.

Mogwaa’s ‘Arctica,’ a chilled out and subtly evolving track, was released earlier and draws inspiration from the minimal and progressive house genres. Mogwaa is listed as one of the featured artists on the record. The full V/A is also available for pre-order.

According to the newly joined Alinka, “I’ve been a fan of Peggy and the label since the start, so it’s been a pleasure creating music for this, and I’m very happy to be part of it. ‘Night Train’ is very special to me in particular because, as the name suggests, I started writing it on the sleeper train coming home from playing in Kyiv at K41 last fall. It was my first time back at the club and Kyiv since Russia’s full-scale invasion, so it was very significant and emotional for me, and this track channeled all the energy of my favorite dancefloor.”

The Gudu label is focused on the lunar new year’s artworks, which reflects the year of the dragon for the second installment. Jin Young Choi, an illustrator who also works for the Gudu mix series, has been appointed as the illustrator for this edition. Moreover, the label recently started a club-focused single series, Club Gudu, and has several releases planned for the year.
