Munya Chawawa, a comedian best known for his viral musical skits, has created a parody diss track inspired by the recent feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Chawawa has now released his own satirical take on what he believes Lamar’s diss track would sound like. In the video, the comedian raps in a squeaky voice, poking fun at Drake’s age and romantic preferences.
Other high-profile musicians were quick to praise Chawawa’s parody. Beneath the post, rapper Professor Green commented that he believed it would be the “best diss in the whole beef”, while grime star Novelist praised Chawawa’s rapping skills.
The inspiration behind Chawawa’s skit was the fact that it is now Lamar’s turn to respond to Drake in their ongoing rap battle.
Drake had previously compared himself to Michael Jackson on the single ‘First Person Shooter’ after tying with the King of Pop for the most number one singles on the Billboard charts. In response, Lamar took jabs at Drake on ‘Like That’, a track from Metro Boomin and Future’s joint project ‘We Don’t Trust You’, likening himself to Prince and making fun of Drake’s latest album.
Drake subsequently released the diss track ‘Push Ups (Drop And Give Me 50)’, but with no response from Lamar, Drake taunted the rapper and said he “had nothing to drop.” Drake was then criticized after he released ‘Taylor Made Freestyle,’ a second diss track that featured AI-generated verses from Snoop Dogg and Tupac. Tupac’s estate has threatened legal action, resulting in Drake removing the track from streaming platforms
