Alternative rock duo Twenty One Pilots have unveiled a new single named ‘Backslide’, which is taken from their forthcoming album ‘Clancy’. It is the third track to be released from the album so far and boasts a different style from the previous two, displaying a more vulnerable side to the band. The song is accompanied by its own music video, which is directed by the band’s drummer Josh Dun and is his first time taking on a directing role.

The newly released video sees the band’s singer, Tyler Joseph, stranded within a self-imposed time loop, much like ‘Groundhog Day’. Throughout the video, Joseph croons out the chorus line of “I don’t wanna backslide to where I started from / There’s no chance I will shake this again / ‘Cause I feel the pull, water’s over my head / Strength enough for one more time.”

Earlier this week, Twenty One Pilots announced that they would be postponing the release of their upcoming album by one week. This was due to their plan to shoot music videos for all 13 tracks present on the album. Despite this setback, the band had already wrapped filming for eight of the videos and are working on seven more. Additionally, one of the tracks on the album is set to have two videos created for it, which means that there’ll be a total of 15 music videos for the album.

Twenty One Pilots will also embark on a world tour across Europe, the US, the UK, and Australia from 2024-2025. Further details can be found on the band’s website. During the meantime, fans of the band can enjoy the new single ‘Backslide’ and its accompanying video, which is now available on various streaming services
