Garbage’s Shirley Manson calls Dave Grohl “the most incredible expanse of joy”

Shirley Manson, the frontwoman of Garbage, recently spoke to NME about her past experiences working with Dave Grohl. Grohl contributed drums to the track ‘Bad Boyfriend’ on Garbage’s fourth studio album, ‘Bleed Like Me’, which was released in 2004. Manson spoke highly of Grohl, calling him “the most incredible expanse of joy that you can hope to meet as a human being.” She also mentioned Grohl’s friendship with Butch Vig, the band’s drummer, through their work with Nirvana. Despite having very little to do with the members of the band at that point in time, Manson had nothing but kind words for Grohl.

In the same interview, Manson discussed the moment she found out that her label chose to invest in No Doubt over Garbage, calling it “devastating”. She had a conversation with a famous rockstar on a flight from Los Angeles to London, who let slip that Interscope had prioritized Gwen Stefani and co. Manson mentioned that she “wasn’t going to do fuck all for that record label ever again.”

The band is set to embark on a UK and European headline tour this summer. Garbage’s 2024 UK and European tour dates are as follows: Milan, Italy, Magnolia on June 26, Lausanne, Switzerland, Les Docks on June 27, Tilburg, Netherlands, 013 on June 29, Luxembourg, Rockhal on June 30, Wiesbaden, Germany, Schlachthof on July 2, Berlin, Germany, Uber Eats Music Hall on July 4 and Paris, France, Le Grande Rex on July 6. They will then be performing in Barcelona, Spain, on July 9 and Madrid, Spain, at Mad Cool on July 10. Upon returning to the UK, Garbage will perform at TRNSMT Festival on July 12, the Usher Hall in Edinburgh on July 14, the Bridlington Spa on July 15, Wolverhampton Civic at The Halls on July 17, 02 Apollo in Manchester on July 19 and the Wembley OVO Arena in London on July 20.

Overall, Manson had nothing but positive things to say about Grohl and the upcoming tour shows that Garbage is still going strong.
