‘Prison Architect 2’ delayed by three months following ‘Cities: Skylines 2’ issues

Paradox Interactive, developers of Prison Architect 2, have announced that they are delaying the release of the highly-anticipated game until September 3. The announcement follows issues that the studio had with Cities: Skylines 2, which launched to a number of bugs and was followed by the release of paid DLC.

In a blog post, Paradox Interactive explained that developers Double Eleven had issues with stability during testing and discovered problems with memory usage and minimum spec configuration failures. “In light of the memory usage issue, and minimum spec configuration failures, we therefore made the decision to postpone the game,” the company said.

The additional development time allows the team to make the game more stable and to develop additional features that they know can be improved. The team will also use more streams and additional developer diaries to keep players informed of the game’s development.

While the delay is disappointing news to those eagerly awaiting the game, Paradox Interactive emphasized the importance of not cutting corners at the expense of delivering a great sequel. “Considering the legacy of Prison Architect, and you – our passionate community, we want to ship the best possible sequel to such a beloved game, without cutting corners to do so,” the studio said. “We know this is a long wait but we’ll be with you all the way to release and we know this will give you a better game experience in the end.”

This is not the first time that Paradox has run into trouble with game releases. Following the release of Cities: Skylines 2, the company was criticized for prioritizing paid extras over fixing the base game. Paradox Interactive has since apologized for the “rushed” expansion and promised to do better by players
