A new nightclub is on its way to Ibiza this summer, opening in the space that was formerly occupied by Sankeys. Avyca, which will have a 1,500-person capacity, will open its doors this summer. The announcement came via the club’s official Instagram page, along with a teaser trailer, which reads, “Chapter one, coming soon.” There is no official opening date at this time.
Sankeys was forced to close in 2018 after 25 years of business. It was known for being one of the most iconic nightclubs on the island, bringing in patrons from around the world. The new venue aims to carry on in its predecessor’s footsteps, with the hope of becoming yet another Ibiza hot spot.
While the climate surrounding the ongoing pandemic may not allow clubs to open at full capacity at the moment, Avyca is committed to reopening in full once the time is right. This could be seen as a glimpse of the island’s future, attempting to return to its longtime status as a nightlife destination.
