The debut album ‘WOOF’ from band Fat Dog has been announced, along with the release of their latest single ‘Running’. The energetic, synthy beat and powerful vocals from frontman Joe Love are characteristic of Fat Dog’s style. Love directed the accompanying music video, which draws inspiration from the works of directors Ken Russell, Ingmar Bergman, and MANDY. The video also reveals the true leader of the Fat Dog cult, giving fans a glimpse into the band’s history.
‘Running’ is the third single to be released ahead of ‘WOOF’, following in the footsteps of ‘All The Same’ and ‘King of Slugs’. All three tracks will feature on the forthcoming album, which will be out on September 6 via Domino. Fat Dog’s ‘WOOF’ features heavily produced tracks and a unique blend of hard punk and dance-ready beats.
Joe Love produced ‘WOOF’ alongside James Ford, who has worked with a range of artists including Arctic Monkeys, Haim, and Gorillaz. Other members of the band have cited influences such as Bicep, I.R.O.K, and Kamasi Washington. ‘WOOF’ is available to pre-order on limited edition Dinked neon green vinyl, red vinyl, CD, and digitally.
Fat Dog also announced their first North American tour, which will take place from October onwards. A presale of tickets is available for fans who pre-order the album from the band’s website. Keyboardist Chris Hughes has described the band’s music as “the polar opposite of thinking music”, with a sound intended to get people dancing.
Despite their success, the band remains humble, with Hughes stating that Fat Dog is “special”. While appearing as this week’s ‘NME’ cover stars, Hughes shared that they have had moments of lining up perfectly, and playing really good gigs, which is unique to the band.
