BBGirls part ways with Warner Music Korea, Youjoung leaves the group

K-pop girl group BBGirls, formerly known as Brave Girls, has announced their departure from Warner Music Korea, along with member Youjoung’s departure from the group. It was announced on April 22 by Warner Music Korea that BBGirls will no longer be a part of the label following the expiration of their contracts with the company. The decision was said to have been made after long and sufficient discussions about future activities with the members. The label expressed their gratitude towards the members for their efforts and dedication, ending the exclusive contract upon its expiration after one year while mutually respecting each other’s opinions.

However, BBGirls launched their own label called BBGirls Company to manage their group activities, as stated by MK Sports. The group’s statement expressed their gratitude towards Youjoung, who has been a member of BBGirls since 2016. After in-depth discussions, Youjoung decided to end her activities as a member of BBGirls and the rest of the members decided to respect her decision. BBGirls’ last release was the single album ‘One More Time’ in August 2023, and they had renamed themselves from Brave Girls in early 2023 following their leave from the long-time agency Brave Entertainment.

The departure of BBGirls from Warner Music Korea is likely to have significant implications for the future of the group, including their approach to music production, management, and promotion. However, the launch of their own label and their statement expressing their support towards Youjoung for her future endeavors highlights their determination to continue their activities with vigour.

The departure of a member and a label may be seen as setbacks, but it also provides BBGirls with a new sense of freedom and the opportunity to explore new avenues and creative directions. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for BBGirls and what kind of music they will produce now that they have complete freedom and control over their music and performances
