On Saturday, a police officer in Ilkeston was hospitalized after an “incident”, resulting in the arrest of a man. Derbyshire Police had been summoned to a property in Hartington Place under Section 135 of the Mental Health Act, and they deployed specialist support officers and the National Police Air Service because of the man’s perceived danger.
No other members of the public were involved in the situation, and the police officer has since been discharged from the hospital. However, officers remain at the scene while an investigation unfolds. Photographs of the scene show specialist police units as well as a section of roadway that had been closed by authorities.
