Pink sues Pharrell over attempt to trademark ‘P.Inc’ brand name

Popstar Pink has filed a lawsuit against Pharrell Williams, claiming that his new brand name for his company ‘P.Inc.’ is too similar to hers. Pink has stated in legal papers that she officially registered the trademark in 2001, and says that Pharrell’s attempt to use a comparable brand could damage her business. The papers state that: “Pharrell’s ‘P.Inc mark is similar to the PINK marks in sight, sound, meaning and commercial impression” and both stars “goods and services are identical and/or closely related.

Pink’s company has now appealed to the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board for help with the case. Pharrell Williams has yet to respond to the lawsuit.

Pink made headlines earlier this year during a live performance in Australia, when a fan went into labour midway through her ballad ‘Our Song’. Pink stopped the concert and helped the woman at the side of the stage, but continued to sing with encouragement. Last year also saw numerous bizarre disruptions to Pink’s live performances including an anti-circumcision protest at a gig in Texas, a fan throwing a bag of their mother’s ashes at one of her shows in London and – on a lighter note – a fan handing her a giant wheel of brie.

Pink is set to bring her ‘Summer Carnival’ tour back to the UK, Ireland and Europe for this summer before embarking on a string of North American dates. Fans can find any remaining tickets to her UK/Ireland shows here
