London Marathon: 'People love my costume – animals are confused'

The London Marathon is coming up and participants have been preparing their costumes for months. Fancy dress is a tradition at the event, but it can add an extra layer of challenge to the grueling 26.2-mile course. Georgie Box will be running the race dressed as a shark to raise money for homelessness charity Shelter. She said the costume is uncomfortable and hot, but the reactions from people have made it all worth it.

Laura Baker, on the other hand, will be running dressed as a wedding cake to raise funds for the Wedding Wishing Well Foundation. She admitted to being too nervous to run in her costume in London, opting for a jog around her village instead. She hopes to claim the title of fastest marathon runner dressed as a sweet food.

Guinness World Records will have a team in place on Sunday to verify 79 World Record attempts by 90 runners. Georgie hopes to take the prize for the fastest female to run a marathon in a full-body inflatable costume, and Steven Waters set the men’s record last year, completing the London event in four hours, 15 minutes, and two seconds while wearing an inflatable pterodactyl costume
