George The Poet: “Kendrick Lamar is a non-revolutionary cosplaying as a revolutionary”

In a recent interview with The Guardian, George The Poet weighed in on the ongoing controversy between rappers Kendrick Lamar and Drake. George The Poet called out Kendrick Lamar’s lack of engagement with social issues and labeled him as “cosplaying as a revolutionary”. He also criticized Lamar’s recent behavior towards Drake, saying, “Now that he has a little catty moment, we’re acting like hip-hop’s back? I don’t want to be part of that.”

George The Poet went on to state that all rappers experience fame and success, but it’s what they do with it that matters. He stressed that if the upward trajectory of their career doesn’t reflect the condition of their community, they have decisions to make. Drake seemingly replied with “Push Ups (Drop And Give Me 50),” but Lamar has yet to drop a rebuttal.

Fans thought Lamar had responded to Drake when a song called “One Shot” leaked online. The track turned out to be fake, however, as TikTok rapper-producer SyTheRapper revealed he created it using AI. Rick Ross has legitimately replied to “Push Ups” with the equally venomous “Champagne Moments,” accusing Drake of getting a nose job and sending a cease-and-desist to French Montana, which was later confirmed by their label owner, Gamma CEO Larry Jackson
