This year’s Green Alley Award has shortlisted six startups from over 300 applications who are dedicated to creating a sustainable future. Each finalist will present their unique and innovative ideas at the Green Alley Award finals in Berlin on April 25. The top prize of €25,000 (£21,460) will be awarded to the winning startup, who pioneers circular principles in their business.
AraBat, an Italian company, offers the most sustainable and cost-effective lithium battery recycling process, using organic waste such as orange peels from its home region. The company hopes to create a circular world, which they are building courageously day by day. Carbon Cell is a UK manufacturing firm committed to providing a compostable and carbon-negative solution for polystyrene waste, which each EU citizen generates 188.7kg of packaging waste per year.
Ecoplastomer is a Polish startup founded in 2018, which creates a solution by mixing recycled tyre rubber with old post-consumer plastic. Their patented process bonds the raw materials together without any additives or stabilisers, making Ecoplastomers easily recyclable and circular
