Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. have announced an extensive 9-date tour across the UK and Ireland slated for the latter half of 2024. The band made the announcement on April 19, along with the release of their latest single “Starburster” as well as confirming the release of their fourth album “Romance” in August this year. Produced by James Ford, this album has been much-anticipated by fans, marking the follow-up to their critically-acclaimed album “Skinty Fia” in 2022 which was also released via XL Recordings.
This new tour will kick off on November 20 at The Halls venue in Wolverhampton, with a performance at Alexandra Palace in London slated for two days later followed by shows in Cardiff, Plymouth, Nottingham and Manchester. Meanwhile, the final three shows will be scheduled during the first week of December, including Leeds’ First Direct Arena on December 3, the Hydro Arena in Glasgow on December 4 and with a stop at the 3Arena in Dublin on December 6.
Support acts for all dates will include Sorry, while DIIV will also join Fontaines D.C. for the Irish band’s performance at Alexandra Palace. Fans can purchase tickets next Friday, April 26 from 10:00 am via Ticketmaster or by pre-ordering Fontaines D.C.’s new album “Romance,” which will provide pre-sale access for the ticket purchase.
The new tour is in addition to the upcoming festival shows the band has already announced for the summer, which include performances at Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, Fuji Rock, Pukkelpop Festival and more. Fontaines D.C’s lead single from their forthcoming album, “Starburster” has already received critical acclaim from fans and music critics alike, with its music video whose aesthetics are centered around a sinister and cinematic narrative.
This new album represents the latest from Fontaines D.C. who, since their third album, “Skinty Fia”, released in 2022, has also covered Nick Drake’s “Cello Song” for a compilation album. Also, in December last year, the band teamed up with Massive Attack and Young Fathers to announce the release of a limited edition 12-inch single on June 1st to support the relief efforts of Medecins Sans Frontières
