JinJin, a member of K-pop group ASTRO, has released a new song titled ‘Fly’, which features vocals from his late bandmate Moonbin. The song dropped on April 19, which marks the anniversary of Moonbin’s death. It includes rap verses from JinJin, and a chorus featuring Moonbin’s vocals. The song was written and produced by JinJin himself and came with a music video which shows JinJin walking along a shore holding a bouquet of daffodils as a tribute to Moonbin.
The chorus of ‘Fly’ includes the following lyrics: “I shine myself under a new light / To the place where the dream is engraved / Fly away, just fly away / Fly higher.” After the song’s release, ASTRO member Sanha shared the track on Instagram, tagging both Jinjin and Moonbin’s Instagram accounts with the caption: “Our hyungs are so cool.”
January 26, which would have marked Moonbin’s 26th birthday, saw several K-pop idols paying tribute to the late band member. Cha Eun-woo released a cover of American DJ duo SLANDER’s ‘Love Is Gone’, after previously covering ‘Stalker’ by 10cm in dedication to Moonbin a month after he passed. In addition, SEVENTEEN’s Woozi released the song ‘What Kind of Future’, which was first performed at a concert in 2018, with a message to the late Moonbin reading, “I will never forget your smile filled with love.”
Numerous other members of ASTRO and other K-pop bands including MONSTA X’s I.M and SEVENTEEN’s DK and Seungkwan posted tributes in remembrance of Moonbin on his birthday. “It’s very cold. I hope you’re doing well. I miss you a lot. Happy birthday,” I.M wrote at the time
