Critics have slammed Nicola Peltz-Beckham’s film, Lola, which marks her directorial debut and features her as the titular character. The movie, which she also wrote, is about Lola, who works in a drugstore and strip club to earn money while protecting her brother from their alcoholic mother. The synopsis says that Lola is striving to get her brother out of their problematic household. Following a tragic night, everything changes.

A reviewer from The Guardian stated that Peltz-Beckham’s portrayal of poverty exploitation has come from a billionaire family background., while a critic from Spectrum Culture says that the director is unfamiliar with the environment she portrays in the movie. This disconnect makes it impossible to accept the film from a conceptual standpoint.

Peltz-Beckham responded to criticisms about the film, stating that her husband, Brooklyn Beckham, was disappointed that he was cut from making a cameo in Lola. He had just one line to say, but he struggled to get the British accent right, which made the team move on.

Despite the criticisms, Peltz-Beckham has received support from some quarters. However, the movie is unlikely to gain much recognition and the criticisms will certainly have an influence on her next project
