Jamie xx is back with a new single, titled ‘Baddy On The Floor’, which features Honey Dijon. The track first appeared during Jamie xx’s headline performance at All Points East in 2021. The song’s development was done through video calls during the pandemic. The single captures the charm of 90s house music and includes old-school disco horns. After more than three years of works, the single was officially released by Young on April 15.
In an interview with BBC Radio 1’s Future Artists with Jack Saunders, Jamie xx confirmed that he would release a new solo LP, which would be his first since 2015’s ‘In Colour’. It’s been announced that Jamie xx is scheduled to perform at The Glastonbury Festival on June 28, with summer festival appearances at the Pitchfork Music Festival and the HARD Summer Music Festival.
Jamie xx initially made his comeback at the start of this year, releasing the single ‘It’s So Good’, his first new music under his own name since 2022. The upcoming LP’s details haven’t been announced yet, according to sources. Jamie xx collaborated with The xx bandmate Romy on her critically acclaimed album, ‘Mid Air’. For this album, he co-produced the single ‘Enjoy Your Life,’ which also featured contributions from Fred Again.. and Stuart Price.
Romy mentioned during an interview at the BRIT Awards 2024 that new material is on the way from The xx. The band has been in the studio since her last interview with NME and will continue to meet up regularly to explore and try new things. The xx’s most recent album, ‘I See You,’ was released in 2017
