Coachella’s Saturday headliner, Tyler, The Creator, made sure to bring out some major talent during his slot. Childish Gambino and A$AP Rocky both joined him on stage. Gambino performed “Running Out Of Time,” a single from Tyler’s latest album “Igor,” while A$AP Rocky joined Tyler for “Potato Salad” and “Who Dat Boy.” Tyler proclaimed during the show that in the past he hadn’t been the biggest fans of the two artists, but through various experiences and incidents his perspective on both have changed. Along with Gambino and A$AP Rocky, Tyler brought out Charlie Wilson and Kali Uchis during his set.
While technical issues plagued Grimes’ DJ set, Jakob Nowell, the son of the late Bradley Nowell, performed with the reformed incarnation of Sublime. The band’s set was focused on honoring Bradley Nowell, frontman of Sublime. During the set, Sublime performed “Romeo” for the first time since 1996 and Jakob played with his father’s custom guitar and Mesa Boogie amp. It was the first time the kit and guitar had been on the same stage since the last Sublime tour in 1996.
Fans at Coachella 2024 were in for a treat during Tyler, The Creator’s set as he brought out some major musicians. Gambino performed a song from Tyler’s new album, while A$AP Rocky and Tyler laid any beef to rest and delivered an amazing performance together. Sublime paid homage to their former frontman by performing a classic tune. Despite some technical difficulties, Coachella had quite the lineup for festival-goers and there was more yet to come with acts like Lana Del Rey and Billie Eilish.
