Canadian musician Grimes has apologised for technical difficulties encountered during her set at Coachella on 13 April. The Independent reported that 20 minutes into her 50 minute performance, the artist began experiencing difficulties, stopping the music briefly to tell the crowd that this was due to problems syncing her tracks. Social media users reported that the pitches on some of her tracks had been shifted, while others noted that Grimes seemed to have trouble beat-matching. Among the tracks played by Grimes were Rihanna’s ‘Sex with Me’ and ‘Monster’ by Kanye West.
After the event, Grimes took to Twitter to apologise for the issues, explaining that she had outsourced some of the essential aspects of her show for the first time to save time. She added that she had spent months working on the show, including writing new music and creating visuals. The artist said that she would personally organise all the files for the next set, due to take place this weekend.
Social media users’ verdict on Grimes’ performance were mixed. Some thought the set was one of the worst in Coachella’s history, while others praised it highly. Several commented on the mechanical spider which Grimes used as an entrance prop and noted that the first half of the set went well
