Deftones have completed recording the instrumentals for their upcoming album, according to news reports. In an interview at Coachella, frontman Chino Moreno shared the status update on their forthcoming music, saying that they have recorded an entire record musically and that it was his job to complete the vocals. However, Moreno did not want to set a definite timeframe on the album’s release. The band is not in a rush; they want it to be great, he said, adding that it’s “really good.”
The new record is reportedly invigorated, with Moreno hinting at the direction they plan to take with it in the interview. “Performing is great, but coming up with something out of nothing, that feeling cannot be topped,” Moreno said, elaborating on the creative process and why it’s the most enjoyable part of being in the band. He also shared that the band is “jazzed” about the project and that they’re excited about what they’ve been working on.
Deftones, known for nu-metal, is known to have started working on new material last year, as confirmed by Guitarist Stephen Carpenter. Carpenter also revealed that they were teaming up with producer Nick Raskulinecz for their third collaboration. This album will be the follow-up to their last album, “Ohms,” which got a five-star review from NME.
