Sharon Osbourne and Amanda Holden have found themselves engaged in a war of words on social media. The spat began after Holden defended Simon Cowell in response to comments made by Osbourne on UK reality show Celebrity Big Brother. Osbourne had criticised Cowell’s reliance on botox and questioned why her contract as a judge on The X Factor had not been renewed. Holden replied that Cowell had given her and others many opportunities and a lifestyle they would not otherwise have experienced. Osbourne hit back on social media, highlighting her global celebrity and history in the music industry.
Osbourne has produced Ozzfest for 24 years and has worked with bands including Electric Light Orchestra, Motörhead and Smashing Pumpkins. She also defended comments made previously about James Corden and Kanye West on her podcast, The Osbournes. The former involved criticism of Corden’s name-dropping habit, while the latter related to West’s unauthorised use of a Black Sabbath sample on his album Vultures, with Ty Dolla $ign. Osbourne called West an “anti-Semite” and “pig” and reportedly sent him a cease and desist notice.
Osbourne has also accused Holden of being “ill informed” and of making herself “look like an ill-informed sycophant”
