The first weekend of Coachella 2024 has come to a close, but not without some controversies. Fans took to social media to express their discontent with the sound quality at this year’s festival. Several artists experienced sound and technical issues during the first day of the festival, especially on the main stage, known as the Coachella Stage. Some of the acts that faced technical difficulties include The Japanese House, Sabrina Carpenter, and headliner Lana Del Rey.
The Japanese House faced various issues making her debut at Coachella. Despite technical difficulties, The Japanese House performed a mix of fan favorites, including “Sad To Breathe” and “Touching Yourself”. However, fans expressed their disapproval of the sound engineer, who was promptly asked to leave by one fan on Twitter.
Sabrina Carpenter also faced several technical difficulties during her performance at the Coachella Stage. Fans were disappointed with the poor audio quality of her microphone and sustain pedal not being set correctly. Despite these hiccups, she treated fans with a visually stunning and hit-filled setlist that left fans highly satisfied.
Lana Del Rey, the headlining act of the night, also faced sound issues throughout her performance. During her set, fans tweeted about the noticeable differences in microphone volume between Lana’s and her backup singers’, and her microphone often beeped and crackled. Fans also aired their grievances, asking for the Coachella sound crew to be fired. The sound issues continued when she brought out special guests Billie Eilish, Jon Batiste, and Jack Antonoff to perform.
In other news, Deftones covered The Smith’s ‘Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want’, and French dance duo Justice made their anticipated return. Shakira also made a special guest appearance during Bizarrap’s set, during which she announced a new world tour. For more live updates as it happens, check out NME’s liveblog for Coachella 2024
