JoJo Siwa has responded to fans who speculated that her new single ‘Karma’ was initially a scrapped demo for Miley Cyrus. Many fans have drawn parallels between Siwa and Cyrus, who both took a sharp turn away from their child star image. Speculation arose as fans noticed that Timbaland and Rock Mafia had hinted on Twitter that they were working on a song called “Karma” with Cyrus in 2012. Rock Mafia is listed as the producer and writers for JoJo Siwa’s song ‘Karma’ along with Antonia Armato, who has written hits for Disney stars.
However, in a recent interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Siwa expressed her delight that fans had envisioned similarities between her and Cyrus. She revealed that “when I was 8, Miley had her ‘Bangerz’ moment and I was like, ‘All I want is to have that one day.'” Siwa said that her whole inner circle had been discussing her new direction since she was 15. Furthermore, Siwa also stated that the “full 180 moment” is something she has always wanted to achieve, and she is “proud” to share ‘Karma.’
Siwa was inspired by Miley Cyrus’s “flip” in her career, which saw her change her image from a sweet Disney star to an edgy pop icon. The Hannah Montana star chose not to release ‘Karma’ in 2011, according to TikTok user Adam Barrera, because of the single’s controversial lyrics. Siwa said that no child star had achieved the same level of transformation that Cyrus had, and she wanted to give the world her brand of art.
Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus recently collaborated with Beyoncé on the song ‘II MOST WANTED’ for the album ‘Cowboy Carter.’ As for JoJo Siwa, she made waves last week with the release of ‘Karma.’ Fans have praised her courage for ‘coming out’ and embracing the ‘gay pop’ genre.
