One of these eight new artists will be playing Glastonbury 2024 as Emerging Talent Competition finalists revealed

The finalists for Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent Competition 2024 have been announced, comprising of eight shortlisted artists. This year’s invitation-only final will be held on Saturday, April 27, offering one musician the chance to perform on one of the festival’s main stages, alongside a £5,000 Talent Development prize from PRS Foundation. Meanwhile, the two runners-up will each be awarded a £2,500 PRS Foundation Talent Development prize.

“We’re very pleased to announce the finalists for our Emerging Talent Competition 2024, which is supported by PRS for Music and PRS Foundation,” Glastonbury announced on their Twitter page. The competitors for the coveted award are The Ayoub Sisters, Bryte, Caleb Kunle, JayaHadADream, Kid 12, Nadia Kadek, Olivia Nelson, and Problem Patterns. The finalists were chosen from thousands of applicants and will be whittled down to one winner later this month.

The first of the selected artists are The Ayoub Sisters: a multi-instrumental musical duo consisting of siblings Sarah and Laura Ayoub, who arrange and perform instrumental versions of classical and famous pop works. Meanwhile, the modern-era R&B singer, Olivia Nelson, is also listed, channeling her emotion into her debut EP ‘For You.’ JayaHadADream is a thought-provoking Jamaican-Irish independent rapper, singer, and producer, who creates original sounds and bridges cultures, bringing something fresh to the industry.

Other shortlisted artists include Problem Patterns, a Belfast-based feminist queer punk band. Kid 12 is an emerging ambient artist, who recently emerged with two 2024 singles ‘Dreams’ and ‘BETS OFF,’ while Nadia Kadek – who opened for Marika Hackman earlier this year and was shortlisted for artist submission at Live At Leeds Festival in 2023. Bryte completes the line-up – a London-based Ghanaian rapper, who raps in five languages and has developed a cult following with his unique fusion of afro-electronic, rap, and experimental club sounds.

Previous winners of the competition include Scouting For Girls, The Subways, Liz Green, Golden Silvers, We Have Band, Ellen and the Escapades, Treetop Flyers, Bridie Jackson and the Arbour, M+A, and She Drew the Gun. The competition offers up-and-coming musicians the chance to showcase their talents, with the winner taking a significant step towards becoming an established artist within the industry
