A new initiative aimed at providing drug safety and harm reduction was recently launched in the UK by the Safer States and Good Night Out campaign groups. Safer States is composed of a group of nightlife safety experts, organizations and clubbers, which provides drug education and community resources. Meanwhile, Good Night Out partnered with Safe Only, The Love Tank and Release for the said initiative. Its goal is to offer a straightforward guide on taking drugs safely in nightlife settings while aiming to challenge any stigma and encourage a realistic attitude towards drug use by the UK nightlife industry.
Yves Suzanne, from Good Night Out, noted that they are always in conversations about alcohol and drug usage and how these substances interact with nightlife safety. They talk to people who run events and work in venues weekly since they are a training organization, which made crafting the initiative a logical and sensible choice.
This project is a step towards engaging more individuals to promote awareness regarding the safe usage of drugs and asserting precautions to reduce risks. It aims to combat the stigma associated with drug use while educating people on how to use drugs responsibly and safely. Good Night Out and those who partnered with them hope that this initiative will reach many people, especially those who patronize nightlife scenes. The availability of the guide may even lessen the harm and dangers associated with risky drug use.
In conclusion, the Safer States and Good Night Out initiative aims to provide venues and individuals with a handy guide to practicing safer drug usage on any nightlife scene in the UK. This guide aims to not only help educate others but also challenge any prejudices towards risky drug use and provide proactive measures for everyone’s safety. Being mindful of the potential risks with drug use, particularly in nightlife settings, will enable people to have a fun and safe time
