Cillian Murphy says he and Roy Keane are “kindred spirits”

Irish actor Cillian Murphy recently revealed his admiration for Irish football pundit and former player Roy Keane. In an interview with the Financial Times, Murphy shared that Keane was actually one of his favorite people. He even had an intense chat with Keane for about an hour and a half when they met once at an airport. Keane, who spent most of his career at Manchester United, is also the joint most successful Irish footballer ever.

Murphy saw a kindred spirit in Keane, describing him as having “that Cork sense… straight to the heart of the issue.” He added that everything Keane stands for, he loves. Apart from Keane, Murphy also recognized director Christopher Nolan, with whom he has worked on six films including the upcoming Oppenheimer. Murphy admires Nolan’s efficient style on film sets where no phones are allowed and catering is miles away from the set to keep everyone focused.
