Cailee Spaeny recently opened up about meeting Taylor Swift at the Golden Globes and bonding over the hit show, Mare Of Easttown. Spaeny, who played Priscilla Presley in Sophia Coppola’s Priscilla and will soon appear in Alex Garland’s Civil War, met the global popstar with Ruby Cruz, who played Spaeny’s character’s best friend on HBO’s Mare of Easttown.
During their meeting, Swift expressed her love for the show, which portrays a small-town detective investigating the murder of a teen. Spaeny recalled that Swift even recognised her character saying, “But you were blonde in Mare of Easttown, weren’t you?” Winslet won Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her performance in the show at the 2021 Emmys.
Swift is due to release her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, on April 19, following her Grammy-winning album, Midnights, released in 2022.
Winslet, has previously spoken about the possibility of a second season of the show but questioned whether she can summon up the emotional fortitude to portray the character again.
Mare Of Easttown was included in NME’s top 10 TV shows of 2021 and received four-star ratings. The show’s grumpy, bullish, and tragic character, Mare, portrayed by Winslet, was cited as one of her bleakest and best performances yet
