Dave Evans, one of the founding members and former lead singer of AC/DC, has claimed that he was the band’s “best” singer in a recent interview with José Luis Mata Sanchez on YouTube. He argues that most of his fans would agree that he was the greatest and they called him “maestro.” Evans provided lead vocals on the band’s first official single, ‘Can I Sit Next To You, Girl,’ and its B-side ‘Rocking in the Parlour.’ He was part of the band from 1973 to 1974 until he was replaced by Bon Scott.
In the interview, Evans suggested that Scott and Brian Johnson should not be compared as they have different vocal styles. AC/DC fans should accept the whole band, including the five founding members, to be true fans. Evans believes that fans who separate themselves and exclusively support one singer are only fans of a part of the band.
AC/DC is set to embark on their 2024 European Tour, with The Pretty Reckless serving as opening support. The tour begins in Germany on May 17 and will continue to Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, before making its way to the UK.
