Two DJs were reportedly assaulted in Berlin in what they suspect was a hate crime. Kim Ann Foxman and Cora shared their story on Instagram to raise awareness of the incident, which they called “disturbing and violent”. The couple were celebrating their one-year anniversary in Pannierstraße, Neukölln when a young man and woman began to assault them without provocation. The female attacker allegedly grabbed Cora’s crotch, which the couple believed was a result of their sexual orientation.

The assault, which took place in broad daylight, attracted an unnamed male, who joined in with the attack, leading to Foxman and Cora being beaten to the ground. Foxman also explained that it was unclear how long the incident lasted before she started taking a video of the attackers.

The couple reported the incident to the police and called for witnesses in the area to come forward with any information they might have to apprehend the perpetrators. They expressed their concern that hate crime, particularly against members of the LGBTQ+ community, is under-reported in Germany and often unpunished.

As a result of the attack, Foxman and Cora had to cancel a planned appearance at the Gegen Berlin event. Nevertheless, they have been receiving messages of support from friends and colleagues on social media. Foxman and Cora’s decision to share their story also drew the attention of several media outlets, sending a powerful message against hate crimes towards marginalized groups
