Indie band Courteeners have announced a special playback event in Manchester to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their debut studio album, ‘St. Jude’. The album, which features three Top 40 singles, including fan favourite ‘Not Nineteen Forever’, peaked at Number Four on the Official Albums Chart when it was originally released in 2008. The event will see the band play the ‘St. Jude 15th Anniversary Edition’ album in its entirety, in Apple Music’s Dolby Atmos Spatial audio. It will also feature a Q&A session with the band’s frontman, Liam Fray.
The playback event will take place later this month in Manchester, with just 25 pairs of tickets available to win. Fans can submit their entries on the band’s website before 5pm tomorrow (April 10) for a chance to attend. Last year, the band announced a reissue of the ‘St. Jude’ album, along with a massive Heaton Park gig.
Fray recently expressed his excitement at the prospect of the anniversary reissue hitting Number One in the Official Albums Chart. Speaking earlier this year to NME, he said: “This industry is literally built on a Top 10 every fucking week – so don’t say that no one cares! If it gets there, it’ll be really nice.” He also talked about the band’s plans for new material, revealing that they have the time to be afforded the chance to do anything they want: “I want to do two albums. One is fun and the other is piano, drum machines, a bit moodier. Don’t expect any hits off that one, but I know what will happen – they’ll be the hits and no one will give a fuck about the ones that I think are good.”
Aside from the Manchester event, Courteeners have several festival appearances lined up throughout the summer. They will perform at Lytham, Boardmasters, Victorious and TRNSMT. Any remaining tickets can be purchased on Ticketmaster’s website
