Charli XCX and Gesaffelstein have teamed up for a new track called ‘B2b’ which will feature on Charli XCX’s upcoming sixth studio album, ‘BRAT’, set to be released in June. The new track is a fusion of Gesaffelstein’s harder club productions and Charli XCX’s pop sensibilities. ‘BRAT’ promises to be a dance music-oriented album, marking a departure from Charli’s previous work. ‘Von Dutch’, the first single from the record, was released in February and revealed the album’s synth-heavy production credits, courtesy of EASYFUN.
According to Charli XCX, ‘BRAT’ will explore dance music sounds, as she stated on Twitter: “I was born to make dance music.. I came from the clubs.. xcx6 is the album I’ve always wanted to make.” Two new tracks have since been revealed ahead of the record: ‘Club Classics’ and ‘So I’, the latter being a heartfelt tribute to her late friend, SOPHIE. In an interview with The Face, she explained that ‘So I’ explores feelings of grief, as there was a lot of distance between herself and SOPHIE, and she didn’t feel magical enough for such a magic person.
Gesaffelstein, meanwhile, unveiled his third studio album, ‘GAMMA’, last month, his first release in more than five years. The record is an ode to the French producer’s “raw industrial sound,” featuring 11 brand new tracks. With the inclusion of ‘B2b’ on Charli XCX’s upcoming album, fans of Gesaffelstein and Charli alike have something to look forward to this summer.
