Last night, RAYE appeared on Saturday Night Live to perform a selection of her recent hits. She took to the stage twice, first performing ‘Escapism’ before returning to sing ‘Worth It’ and ‘Let There Be Light’ with a jazz orchestra. The singer has performed with an orchestra numerous times in the past, including at her recent headline show at London’s O2 Arena, which received a five-star review from NME.
Throughout the performance, RAYE’s “effortless vocals” were compared to Amy Winehouse, while her melismatic runs and scat singing soared across the orchestra. The concert was described as a “triumphant performance from a live sensation” and a “career-defining show” for the artist.
In addition to her SNL appearance, RAYE recently revealed that she co-wrote ‘Riiverdance’ on Beyoncé’s recent album ‘Cowboy Carter’. The six-time BRIT Awards winner has previously penned songs for Queen Bey, as well as for Mabel and Charli XCX.
Taking to Instagram to celebrate the release of the new record, RAYE expressed her “honour” in contributing to the LP. She shared a clip of herself singing along to the track and revealed that she had found her beat-up cowboy hat, which she had bought on her 21st birthday, for this “special occasion
