Matt Bellamy, the lead singer of Muse, has praised a cover of the song ‘Knights of Cydonia’ that was transformed into a metal version in the style of System of a Down. The cover was uploaded to YouTube by user Andre Antunes on March 11 and he regularly creates metal covers of popular songs and memes. Muse’s ‘Knights of Cydonia’ was originally released on their 2006 album ‘Black Holes and Revelations’.
Bellamy expressed his admiration of the cover on Twitter, posting the video and simply captioning it with the word ‘Gold’. The original song was one of Muse’s biggest hits and was released as their third single alongside other popular tracks like ‘Supermassive Black Hole’ and ‘Starlight’.
This isn’t the first time a Muse cover has gone viral either. Thanks to Artificial Intelligence, many popular songs were transformed into ‘Simpson’-style versions of the original tracks. TikTok user @mememusic117 also created a Simpson-style version of Muse’s ‘Starlight’, complete with a Homer as the lead vocalist.
Bellamy also recently announced that he had scored the soundtrack for the audiobook of George Orwell’s ‘1984’. The audiobook features high-profile actors such as Tom Hardy and Andrew Garfield and is available now. Bellamy previously used the book for inspiration during Muse’s 2009 album ‘The Resistance’.
Last year, Bellamy smashed his guitar during a gig and gave it to a lucky fan in the audience. Muse are known for their explosive and theatrical live shows which often include pyrotechnics and elaborate visuals
