The Big Bike Revival is an opportunity to get out and explore on two wheels. Cycling UK, a charity dedicated to promoting cycling across the UK, has partnered with two local organizations, Liverpool Cycle Tours and Cycling FIX CIC, to provide free events over the next two weeks in Sefton Park, Kings Dock, and Toxteth Tool Library in Liverpool. This program offers a range of activities from expert bike health checks and exhilarating bike rides to learn-to-fix workshops.
The event is open to all Liverpool residents, and there is plenty of variety on offer. Learn-to-fix basic bike maintenance and social rides on e-bikes are just two of the activities.
You can learn how to ride a bike with confidence and maintain your bike at the tool library in Toxteth. Dr Bike is also in Sefton Park on the 6th, 7th, and 14th of April from 2 pm to 6 pm, providing free bike health checks.
Booking is essential, but all events are free. Cycling offers a practical way to get around the city while simultaneously tackling issues such as air pollution and traffic congestion. It is also a great way to improve your mental and physical wellbeing.
Aigburth resident Maliha, who attended a Learn to Fix event run by the Aigburth Community Cycle Club, said: “There are social barriers for women to do such activities in Pakistan, and as such, I had no experience of dealing with common issues that come with biking regularly. We took apart the bikes and put them back together, and now I am much more confident of my ability to make small repairs and adjustments.” So get ready for some fun, fitness, and adventure; book your spot today!
