The acclaimed singer-songwriter Orville Peck has announced the release of his new duet album titled ‘Stampede’. The album’s first track is a collaboration with legendary musician Willie Nelson and is a cover of Ned Sublette’s 1981 song ‘Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond of Each Other’. According to an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine Peck notes that “With all the rhetoric surrounding the LGBTQIA+ community these days, it is so encouraging to have real allies like Willie that aren’t afraid to stand proudly next to us.”
The accompanying video, directed by Ben Prince, is set in a saloon and features queer men and women dancing and having drinks. Peck and Nelson perform under a tree on Nelson’s ranch in Texas. The video is a powerful celebration of queer culture and love, showcasing the importance of allies and support.
Peck’s initial release comes after signing with Warner Records. The Canadian musician is a masked figure who sings classic country songs with an added layer of queer identity. His upcoming album features duets with a number of other notable performers.
Peck recently announced his 2024 tour dates across North America to promote ‘Stampede’. The tour includes stops in Toronto, Vancouver, and Los Angeles, among other cities.
