French artist So Me, an affiliate of Ed Banger Records, has announced his directorial debut with a new film coming to Netflix. The untitled project began production on February 26 and, according to DJ Mag, it will showcase the career of a DJ from its peak to its decline.
The film stars Vincent Cassel as a once-famous DJ named Scorpex, who receives a chance at redemption from intelligence agent Rose, played by Laura Felpin. French producer Kavinsky and YouTuber and rap artist Mister V are also set to appear in the film, along with other actors such as Alexis Manenti, Déborah Lukumuena, and Nicolas Maury.
Deadline reports that Paris and Los Angeles-based group Iconoclast is producing the film, which will build on a 2021 short film by So Me that featured Cassel as Scorpex. The film will mark So Me’s directorial debut as the artist is known for his work as a music producer, DJ, graphic designer, and Ed Banger’s art director.
The untitled French-language thriller is still in production, and no release date has been announced as of yet. The project has been generating excitement among fans of French cinema and the electronic music scene alike, with many eagerly anticipating its release on the popular streaming platform.
