The upcoming film ‘Back to Black,’ which chronicles the life of iconic singer Amy Winehouse, will not feature Mark Ronson’s character. Ronson played a vital role in the production of Winehouse’s 2006 album ‘Back to Black,’ however, all the scenes which featured Ronson were cut from the final movie. It was confirmed by the film director, Sam Taylor-Johnson. Canadian actor Jeff Tunke, who played Ronson, revealed in an interview that the scenes being cut resulted in his credits being removed from the film and IMDb.

Despite not being connected to the film’s production, he revealed earlier in the year that he had read the film’s script and expressed his thoughts. Ronson was a friend and collaborator of Winehouse’s and helped produce her influential second album, ‘Back to Black.’ Directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, the biopic is set in London and follows Winehouse’s rise to fame. It stars Marisa Abela as Winehouse, Jack O’Connell as Winehouse’s ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil, Eddie Marsan, Juliet Cowan, and Lesley Manville as her relatives. It is set to be released in the UK and Ireland on April 12, 2024.

Last month, details of the official soundtrack for the film were released. Titled ‘Back To Black: Songs from the Original Motion Picture,’ it features songs by the singer herself as well as tracks by other iconic artists such as Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan. The compilation album will be released on May 17 via UMR/Island Records.

Ronson may not be featured in the film, but he shared his positive thoughts about it. He mentioned in an interview that only thing he knew about the film was he knew Sam well and he read the script which reminded him of Winehouse’s “whip-smart razor sense of humor.” He looks forward to seeing how the film turned out
