After Doja Cat released the single ‘Masc’ and shared the cover art featuring a close-up of her blonde curls, fans started comparing her natural hair to “sheep and pubes and carpet and popcorn”. On March 30, Doja took to Instagram Live to address this consistent pattern of insulting comments made about her hair’s appearance.
“Doja speaks about her natural hair around one minute and 14 seconds below.” Due to these comparisons, Doja asked her fans to “move forward” and grow from the situation. She continued by saying, “Let’s try not to do that,” regarding the insulting comments.
Doja Cat is set to perform around Europe this year as part of her ‘Scarlet’ world tour. Amsterdam, Scotland, Birmingham, and London are on the list, among other locations. However, it’s unclear whether Kanye West has approached Doja to collaborate on his new version of ‘New Body’ or not, as Nicki Minaj was previously set to feature but refused to clear her sample.
Last September, the singer released her full-length album Scarlet, which NME gave a three-star rating, stating, “it all adds up to an overlong, slightly repetitive but ultimately compelling album of two halves… still, by this stage, there’s no doubt that Doja has made her point – that she doesn’t owe us anything but to be herself.
