Avon and Somerset Police began responding to reports of the event, which had taken place without a licence near Watchet in Somerset, at around 6:00am BST. Photographs provided by the public to the BBC suggest that many vehicles had been parked on both sides of the B3224 close to the Exmoor location of the music. The police said that they were interacting with party goers and would work to provide reassurance to the surrounding community.
Several hundred people were found to be at the location by police when they arrived and the force has said that it is committed to managing the event and providing appropriate public safety. A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said that their officers had already arrived at the location of the rave 15 minutes after the police began receiving calls. Engagement with attendees at the event had taken place, while reassurance has also been provided to surrounding members of the public.
