Fans say Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ is missing tracks on vinyl

Fans of Beyoncé are unhappy as the vinyl release of her new album, Cowboy Carter, is missing five tracks from its official track listing. This comes after the album’s release on March 29 and the reports of its CD version missing certain tracks. The vinyl edition was available for pre-order for £32, and while it is unclear how the omissions happened, it may suggest last-minute changes to the album’s track listing. Some fans have expressed their disappointment, even demanding a refund for the incomplete album received.

Cowboy Carter is Beyoncé’s eighth studio album and the second in a trilogy that began with 2022’s Renaissance. The album (in its vinyl edition) features a cover of The Beatles’ “Blackbird”, a reworked version of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” with lyrics addressing Jay-Z cheating on her, as well as other tracks that bring out guests appearances from Willie Nelson, Post Malone, Miley Cyrus, Shaboozey, and Tanner Adele. The album also samples Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made For Walking” on the track “Ya Ya”. Meanwhile, Raye wrote a song for the album that ended up being “RIIVERDANCE”.

The new album, with a country direction, has seen mixed reaction from critics and fans alike. While Nancy Sinatra was delighted that her song was sampled on the album, Azealia Banks was quite critical, describing the album as “white women cosplay”. Banks also stated that she feels Beyoncé is “setting herself up to be ridiculed” by attempting a new sound. The singer-songwriter KT Tunstall responded to Banks’ criticism and joked that she would have definitely got off the couch if there had been a feature for her on the album.

Despite the criticism, Beyoncé remains one of the most popular and successful musicians of our time. The omission of five tracks on the vinyl has disappointed some fans, but it is not yet clear what led to this situation
