Teesside-based NE Volume celebrates 100th edition of magazine with three-day event

NE Volume, based in Teesside, has announced an upcoming music event to celebrate its 100th edition of the magazine. The weekender will take place at its own NE Volume Music Bar from July 26 to 28. The publication has been in production for more than eight years, and this event will feature artists from the North East of England, which aligns with the magazine’s purpose since its creation in 2015- to highlight and celebrate the region’s arts and music scene.

Brothers Lee and Adam Allcock, founders of the project, opened NE Volume Music Bar in 2020, amidst the pandemic. After a challenging four years, the brothers are now dedicated to supporting local and national grassroots musicians, with an average of four weekly gigs hosted at the venue. The 100th edition weekender event lineup includes top local acts such as Paul Smith, who will feature on Friday, and End Credits, Redshift, Mascara’s Lies, Beatnik, The Wednesday Flowers and Dog Counters on Saturday and Sunday.

Co-founder Lee said reaching the milestone of the 100th edition feels incredible. Initially, they expected to only print ten editions, and the magazine has even featured cover stars ranging from local acts like Paul Smith from Maximo Park to national icons such as Stereophonics. NE Volume has also interviewed local talent like Sam Fender, who have gone on to accomplish great things. The magazine aims to support local bands and bring attention to the talent in the region, and the 100th Edition Weekender event will continue that mission.

Tickets start at £8, and interested parties can purchase them via See Tickets. Niamh Ingram, Mixmag’s Weekend Editor, reports on the event. Attendees should prepare to see the best of North England’s music scene at the NE Volume 100th Edition Weekender, a celebration of the talent and success of the region’s local artists
