Beyoncé has released her new country album ‘Cowboy Carter’ which features a variety of covers and guest appearances. Among them, she has worked in an upbeat rework of Dolly Parton’s ‘Jolene’ which features her own lyrics addressing her husband Jay-Z’s cheating. The album also features a cover of The Beatles’ ‘Blackbird’ and sees country veteran Willie Nelson and pop singers Miley Cyrus and Post Malone lend their voices to the tracks.
Singer Nancy Sinatra expressed her admiration for Beyoncé’s appreciation of her music after they sampled her famous track ‘These Boots Are Made For Walking’ on their new LP. In a post on Twitter, Sinatra said; “To have a little piece of one of my records in a Beyonce song is very meaningful to me because I love her. She represents what is great about today’s music and I’m delighted to be a tiny part of it.”
RAYE, who is also featured on the album, revealed that she co-wrote one of the songs, called ‘RIIVERDANCE’ An excited RAYE took to social media to share a clip of herself singing along to the track with the caption: “Happy Cowboy Carter day. What an honour it is to be able to contribute my small piece to this beautiful album, and to THE @beyonce who continues to inspire all of us.”
Dolly Parton, whose hit ‘Jolene’ was also reinterpreted on the album, recognized Beyoncé’s efforts, and wrote on Twitter: “Wow, I just heard Jolene. Beyoncé is giving that girl some trouble and she deserves it! Love, Dolly P.” Earlier, Parton had also given Beyoncé her blessings for the album and asked her fans to listen to the original ‘Jolene’ before her own version was released
