The upcoming spin-off series The Penguin, based on The Batman’s Oswald Cobblepot played by Colin Farrell, is set to premiere later this year. The show is created by Lauren LeFranc and produced by Matt Reeves. It follows the character’s rise to power in Gotham city’s criminal underworld, one week after the events in the 2022 film.

The confirmed cast includes multiple actors and actresses such as Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni, Michael Zegen as Alberto Falcone, and Michael Kelly as Johnny Vitti. Though nothing is confirmed, it is possible that Robert Pattinson’s Batman will make an appearance in some capacity, whether as the Dark Knight or as Bruce Wayne. The series is likely to tee up events for the upcoming sequel, The Batman Part 2, scheduled for release in 2026.

Max dropped the trailer for the show in March, and it features Lee’s Penguin wreaking havoc throughout Gotham. The show has already been reviewed positively. A series about Arkham Asylum is also in development from The Staircase showrunner Antonio Campos.
