Convenience store chain 7-Eleven has faced an unconventional response to its forthcoming release of hot dog-flavored sparkling water, with fans of nu-metal band Limp Bizkit offering their take on the unusual drink. Although there were no signs of affiliation between the beverage and the band, which released its album “Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water” in 2000, fans joined in with their opinion. One observer noted that “Limp Bizkit already had that copyrighted”, while another speculated that “we’re one novelty product away from making Limp Bizkit’s quarter-century-old album title a reality.”
While the move might not appeal to everyone, the convenience store believes it will offer a unique experience, combining its classic Big Bite hot dog into one refreshing beverage. According to 7-Eleven’s official explanation, the soda features ketchup and mustard flavors, which the company claims provides the perfect mix for fans on-the-go. More details are set to be revealed on April Fool’s Day, alongside wider availability of the product.
One Twitter user openly criticised 7-Eleven for seemingly “pandering” to Limp Bizkit fans. However, executives at the convenience store remain upbeat. Marissa Jarratt, an executive for 7-Eleven said, “We’re excited for customers to embark on this flavor adventure and experience their favourite snack in a whole new form.” The band and its frontman, Fred Durst, have yet to comment on the drinks release.
