Calvin Harris has defended his Ultramusic set from those who labelled it as “underwhelming”. The Scottish DJ took to the comments of a deleted post from Dancing Astro, a dance music magazine, to defend his set. He pointed out that expecting him not to play any of his songs was unreasonable given that he has numerous “proper fucking songs with real artists” that have accumulated billions of streams, in addition to other half-billion streamed songs and twenty more from before 2014.
Harris also explained that he played many new and unreleased edits of his songs and accused commenters of wanting him to play “‘FE!N’ trap edits”, a reference to a Travis Scott and Playboi Carti song. He lamented that every move he makes just makes some people unhappy and why he does not usually play at EDM festivals.
This summer, Harris is scheduled to DJ at TRMSMT Festival 2024 in Glasgow with Liam Gallagher and Gerry Cinnamon. Despite winning Best Dance Act at the BRITs 2024, Harris revealed plans to soon quit DJing and prefers to be in the studio producing music. He explained that once he reaches age fifty, the commercial aspect of DJing becomes “a wee bit…a little bit suspect” and that he would instead “make other people’s records sound good.”
Harris also shared his unusual cure for jet lag, which entails taking both a shower and cold bath, followed by a sauna to encourage sweating, and then running for ten minutes in hot water while the body cools down
