Liverpool has launched a new campaign which aims to establish its status as the top place to attend events in the UK. The Liverpool Loves initiative intends to welcome attendees of big events with a unique and exciting experience, encouraging people to spend more time discovering the city’s businesses, attractions and places. The campaign also aims to show event organisers and promoters that Liverpool is the best city in the UK to hold an event. The campaign has been inspired by last year’s Eurovision takeover; restaurants, bars, tourist attractions, shops and hotels are being called upon to align their promotional campaigns and help to create a memorable and enjoyable experience for participants.
Marketing Liverpool has produced branding for each event, as well as an app that will list the best deals for attendees and highlight pop up artwork and activations across the city so fans can share their experiences on social media. The first five events included in the campaign are: Liverpool Loves The Grand National (11-13 April 2024); Liverpool Loves Comic Con (4-5 May 2024); Liverpool Loves Eurovision (11 May 2024); Liverpool Loves Taylor (13-15 June 2024); and Liverpool Loves P!nk (24-25 June 2024). More information concerning Liverpool’s plans to become the UK’s Eurovision capital will be announced in the near future.
The director of culture, Claire McColgan, commented: “Campaigns like this put us on a pedestal and get us noticed by those decision-makers who are pivotal in deciding where major events take place. We have consistently demonstrated that Liverpool is a leader when it comes to staging events, but this is a competitive sector and we need to stand out from the crowd by going above and beyond what other cities offer. ” Meanwhile, Dickon White, regional director NW of The Jockey Club, said: “We’re delighted that the Randox Grand National Festival is the first event to form part of the new Liverpool Loves campaign, a very exciting initiative which will further highlight all the very best Liverpool has to offer.”
Liverpool is home to numerous events throughout the year, including the Grand National horse race, the Africa Oyé festival and the Liverpool International Music Festival. This latest campaign is another step in Liverpool’s journey to establishing itself as a top destination for events in the UK.
