St. Vincent has unveiled her new single ‘Flea’ with Dave Grohl on drums, as the musician confirmed news surrounding her incoming album, ‘All Born Screaming’. The new album is scheduled to be released on April 26 and is set to follow ‘Broken Man’, the first single, featuring the Foo Fighters frontman on drumming duties. ‘Flea’ showcases a powerhouse chorus and biting lyrics from St. Vincent. The new album is supported by St. Vincent’s North American tour, with tickets on sale from today.

St. Vincent has announced the news of her upcoming tour and new album in recent months, leading with ‘Broken Man’ as her first single from ‘All Born Screaming’. Her new single ‘Flea’, sees Dave Grohl back on drums, as the song’s edgy lyrics get ready to hit listeners straight in the gut.

As St. Vincent prepares to release ‘All Born Screaming’ on April 26, fans are eagerly anticipating the release of the album that features the Foo Fighters frontman throughout. Her North American tour meanwhile, kicks off in May and runs until the end of September, with Yves Tumour, Spoon, Momma, Dorian Electra and Eartheater confirmed as support guests throughout the tour.

St. Vincent has a clear vision for her upcoming album and the role that Grohl continues to play in shaping her sound. In an interview with NME, the musician said that Grohl’s drumming was key to the song’s success, “From the beginning of the song, it’s a slow-burn. The shape of the song is climbing the mountain, because it just grows and grows. There are essentially three drummers on the track: the first part is my programming, the second part Mark Guiliana comes in, and then at the very end of the track – just when you think it can’t get any higher – Grohl comes in with this absolute reckless spirit and just takes it to the edge.”

St. Vincent also spoke about her role as a producer in “understand[ing] sound – scientifically and also as intention” and treating it as physical energy. In an interview with Matt Wilkinson, she notes that “With this one, I needed to go places I hadn’t gone sonically before. I needed to say, ‘I am physically moving electricity around, I’m playing with currents, I’m gonna be fucking Thor’. My fingerprints are on everything. I feel closer in a certain way, because it’s genuinely the inside of my head without any filter.”
