Actor Jeremy Allen White is reportedly being considered to play the role of Bruce Springsteen in an upcoming film about the making of Nebraska, Springsteen’s 1982 album. According to Deadline Hollywood, the yet-to-be-titled film is being directed by Scott Cooper, who has previously directed a number of successful films including Crazy Heart and Black Mass. An adaptation of Warren Zanes’ book, Deliver Me From Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska, the film will cover Springsteen making the Nebraska record and his emotional and mental state at the time.
Currently, White is the favourite to play a young Springsteen in the film, which A24 is in talks to produce. Springsteen and his manager Jon Landau are also reportedly active participants in the project. Nebraska was Springsteen’s sixth album and famously features stripped back recordings. The album was recorded when Springsteen was going through a dark time in his life and he released the demos as they were, which distinguishes the album from the rest of his work.
In other Springsteen news, he recently took part in a charity re-recording of the song Going Home, alongside fellow artists like Eric Clapton, Ronnie Wood, and Brian May. Springsteen also made an appearance in a recent episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, and announced details for a career-spanning compilation to be released via Sony Music, titled Best Of Bruce Springsteen. The Boss is also set to return to the UK in the summer for his 2024 UK and Ireland tour.
As of this writing, there are no official negotiations with White and the film is currently in talks with A24 to board the project. Fans of the E Street Band member will have the opportunity to relive his music career in the near future
